Subject: [Classicrendezvous] Copper plating in 20's and 30's

Does anyone have data on copper plating of frames (and even components) during the 20's and 30's?

Was this a trademark of specific makers? Was this practice confined to any particular geographic area? Were there specific bicycles that were more likely to be copper plated? Was copper plating purely for aesthetics or was there a "technical" reason for doing this?

In some instances, I have seen not only copper plated head badges, but also crankarms and chainrings.

Any thoughts, or ideas, gang?

Thanks,
Amanda Graham
