Hi Lee,
Cino Cinelli (pro for seven years, won Tour of Lombardy and the '43 Milan-San Remo) started making steel bars and stems in 1946. He took over the operation from his older brother Giotto, who made them before WW II.
Cinelli came out with his first alloy stem, the 1A in 1963. It was an immediate industry standard and striking in its graceful design and use of Allen® bolt clamp. The 1/R with the hidden binder came out ten years later, in 1973.
I don't know the intro dates for the newer stems unfortunantly...
