Subject: [Classicrendezvous] CR Site Working Again?

Dale, is all now well with the site? I note a version now dated 10/6/00 has appeared and most of the links seem to be working again. When we were discussing the unusual British frame geometries a week or so ago there were several questions, on and off list, from those unfamiliar with some of these bikes. As the British section of the site (among others) was not functional at the time, I found it difficult to describe in words the nature of some of these designs. As to Paris Galibier, I scarcely tried, as this design truly defies words. Now that the photos are accessible, I suggest that interested parties peruse the Hetchins, Baines, Bates, Thanet, Saxon and most particularily the Paris page in the British section. Also, anyone who believes that Ernesto Colnago invented straight fork blades should check out the Harry Quinn designed Viking on the Viking page.

Since some of us first subscribed to Cycling Plus after many of the classic British marques had already been profiled in Design Classics, I wonder if Hilary might list the past issues in which some of the most notable of these marques appeared along with advice as to the possibliity of ordering the back issues in question.

Regards,

Jerry Moos
