Subject: [Classicrendezvous] What we need

Listers, I have a 1980 MGB that I've restored from the ground up with parts readily available from the original manufacturers. It seems the British Car hobby created a Heritage Association that bands together various parts makers. What we need is a similar situation in the classic bicycle sector. I believe that this group will grow and am saddened to think that Mike Knoe and Bill Ward among others have had to abandon the game. If I could make up a wish list of parts to be remanufactured to original specs at reasonable prices, it would look like this:

Campy brake gum rubber hoods with world logo Campy replacement brake blocks Campy jockey pulleys The entire SR/NR groups The Clement tubular tire range Alfredo Binda toe-straps Cinelli old logo bars and stems Fiamme red and yellow label rims Mavic OR 10 rims Brooks saddles (Maybe still?) Scott Matthauser labeled rust colored brake pads Older style alloy water bottle cages Protogs wool cycling shorts Detto shoes Pavarin cleats Old style crochet back gloves with snap closures Regina Oro freewheels and chains Cinelli Unicanitor saddles Campy 1037 steel pedals with the toe strap loop Cinelli toe clips Packard Carribean convertibles

Okay, that last item is off list but it points up the inevitable, all good things fade away eventually.

Oh, well.

Yours in the wool,

Scott "cloudy in LA" Smith
