My copy of Gabor Konrad's Bike Lore arrived quite swiftly after Dale sent it. I finally had time to finish it last night. Recommended highly - it's a fun book. Lots of neat stories on folks that I had heard mentioned, but never knew much about.

Great pictures, too - and I'm strongly tempted to scan one and send it to Grant Peterson at Rivendell to share with one of his buddies. There's an interesting resemblance to be seen. If you have Riv catalog no.3, and a copy of Bike Lore, compare - p. 76, Riv catalog no. 3 - "Pal Jeff, arms akimbo, ..." p. 60, Bike Lore - "Henri (on left) and Francis Pelissier"

My request - someone needs to do a really good, detailed biographical piece on Eugene Christophe. I keep meaning to write an essay about a photo of him in the old "Winning Bicycle Racing" book - possibly the ultimate photo of a grizzled old-style racer.
