Wow - thanks to everybody for the wealth of knowledge! That's an amazing product life for something like a crank, and maybe it was contemporary to that bike after all, and maybe original. We'll see how it cleans up and it may go back into service on another bike. Depends on what projects I get up to this winter.

So is Third Hand the best source for a Stronglight extractor? If QBP has them, I may order it through the local shop.

How available are rings? These are kind of worn.

If I decided I just *had* to have a model 57 or 63, what could I expect to pay for a usable example? What bolt circle are the rings? (I note the 49 is 122mm).

Confession time: I've always thought the Stronglight spider design was one of the prettiest out there.
