Ah the oh so rare Gambato. A visit to the dark side.

About 1975 we had an infestation of Argentinian bicycles materialize near our shop. They had the equally mysterious brand name of "Rogers". Perhaps this was an allusion to the "Jolly Roger". They looked quite grand with chrome and transparent paint over the chrome like a Frejus. And the complete Gambato gruppo, looking like early Campy- could it be the Argentinian Zeus- no way sucker! Unfortunately the net result was just one step above the worst Taiwanese efforts of that period, the ones with the original cassette hub (integral freewheel), the soot in the tubes and the brakes you readjusted two times before you realized the problem was the calipers bending as you squeezed.
