This was all hotly debated on rec.bicycles.marketplace years ago! I have three bikes with complete Mavic SSC groups on them and the cranks are identical to the OMAS crank I have on my Brian Baylis #16 Wizard. They do not look like a Campy crank forging at all on close examination.
