Hi, I'm new to the list and have a Bianchi very similar to the one in the pictures. I don't know very much about the bike but am eager to learn what I can. My bike has frame and fork which appear identical to the pictures in most respects (the chrome on the edges of the dropouts and on the side of the crown, the chrome on the bevels at the dropout/chainstay/seatstay junctures, the "B"'s on the crown and head lug, etc).

The decals on mine are a little different however, the Columbus decal is on the seat tube near the bottom instead of on the down tube. I don't have the big square gold decal that appears at the bottom of the seat tube in Roadgiant's photo, nor does mine say "Super Leggera" (or anything else) on the top tube.

The head badge on mine is a Piaggio sticker (like the one on the left side of the seat tube in the pictures) rather than the Bianchi eagle.

The components on mine include a full Super Record group except that the headset is a steel Nuovo Record and the bike came to me w/o pedals. Stem was an old logo Cinelli 1A with TTT bars (obviously wrong and the 26.0 bars slipped in the 26.4 stem). Rims are GL-4's and saddle a Concor.

The date codes on hubs an crank indicate 1981 but the rear deraileur is a Pat. 83.

Can anyone identify the year and model for me? I am thinking between 1981 and 83. Serial number is 1.8.127 which suggests 1981 to me.

Is it a Super Leggera or some other model? I've also been told it's Super Corsa and a Specialissima. What are the differences between these models?

The bike rides wonderfully, climbing seems much easier than on my 70's 531 Bertin. I guessing the tubing is SL, the gold Columbus sticker (same as in the photo's) doesn't say. Thanks for any insight anyone can share.

Also, was the Bianchi/Campagnola pro racing team still around in the early 80's? Did any other teams ride Bianchi's during this period.

Thanks,

Dennis Bournique
