Last night I was studying Chuck Schmidt's collected reproduced Peugeot catalogs ($45 from Velo-Retro) pursuant to an offlist discussion with another Francophile member about the place of the PXN10(L)(E) in the Peugeot lineup. I observed the following based on the catalogs present in the collection:

After 1974, the PX10 disappears from the English language catalogs and doesn't reappear until about 1986. At the same time the PXN10 "Super Competition" appears in the English catalogs, occupying the #2 spot in the product line, usually following the PY10. This is where the PX10 would have been had it still been offered. In the French language catalogs, however, the PX10 continues to appear, while the PXN10 is never seen. The two models never appear together in the same catalog.

Was the PXN10, then, a variation of the PX10 for the US market, while a different variant of the model continued to be sold as the PX10 in France? Could the "N" in PXN10 perhaps stand for "North America"?
