Subject: [CR]Cross list postings

A few recent messages that were sent to the CR list were "cross posted" to other lists. It seems to happen most frequently with the BOB list, which is understandable as those folks share approximately the same bicycling value system. Many members are on both lists...

I am not sure why, but I personally do not like cross posting. It seems like each list is different and if one cared about each list's individuality one would tailor differing messages to each.. But maybe my dislike of cross posting is a personal foible, a possessiveness that I have to work through! In either case, it really isn't a big deal; I just gently request that you not do it...

But I have also found a practical reason to ask you not to cross post.. When someone from another list reads your cross posted message, then he/she responds "to all," it automatically sends a message to the CR list from someone who is not recognized as a CR member by our host, and our host automatically holds it and sends me a notice, causing me to have to go do additional procedures to refuse or accept or answer each post! Extra work!

So, now from a practical standpoint, please don't cross post.
