Well I eat my words, as I have seen a picture of what looks like a fake Hetchins frameset.
Sources and reports put these fakes for sale at A Bicycle Odyssey bike shop in Sausalito, CA. Allegedly they were purchased by the shop from the same Importer who brings in Ron Cooper frames for resale to shops. Does anyone in the bike business in CA know who this Importer is & have a tel #? I will be calling A Bicycle Odyssey on Tuesday and see what they have to say about this.
I am interested because I feel I have a vested interest in maintaining the integrity of Hetchins (owning 7 of them right now!!) but for that matter I would not be able to stand by and see forgeries being sold of any cycle marque! How reprehensible!
Anyone having further information of such fakes be sure to contact me with as much info as you have. If necessary, I will treat the source of any info confidentially.
