Subject: [CR]Old Motobecane mixte revisited

Remember the mixte Motobecane I posted about a couple weeks ago wondering what model and how old it might be? John Taglia opined that it was a Grand Touring, but didn't really elaborate further - well, today I spotted its brother and sister on ebay! Two Motobecane Grand Touring bikes, one gent's and one mixted. Both with 1020 frames, Stronglight 49D cranks, Racer brakes, Lyotard 460D pedals, Normandy hubs, and alloy rims, just like mine. Same head badge, too, but these are yellow. They have Huret derailleurs (Alvit in the rear), which seem likely to be original, where mine has SunTour. Other differences are the bars (all-rounder style on these, with Weinmann levers; mine has Pivo drops and stem) and the shifters, which are Huret stem shifters where mine has SunTour downtube ratchets. These also have aftermarket looking mattress saddles.

So, John, do you remember what timeframe this model was offered in this configuration? I also have a later Grand Touring (from the early '80s?) that is very different.

Sorry I don't remember the ebay item numbers, but they should be easy to find.

Funny, ebay seems to be quite a source of bike history sometimes.
