I would only use wire bead tires with these, especially if you run the pressure at or near max(as printed on sidewall). 25 or 28 width is no problem. BTW: They came in 27" and in 700C. The 700's, at least, came in two widths. Model 124 was the narrow and 129 the wide, but actually they're pretty close.
