I'm not sure what the removed pictures were, and I'm not a lawyer either, but I do know copyright a little as it applies to photography.
First, the creator of a photo holds the copyright and must grant permission for its publication (displaying on a website is publication).
Second, the owner of the bicycle technically must provide a property release (same as a model release, but for an object rather than a person's likeness) for its publication.
