Ideale's answer to the Brooks-Campagnolo saddle, was, IMHO, far more elegant. Models 88SC (full flaps) and 89SC (cutaway flaps)had narrow, long throw rails and a neat serial number stamped in the maker's badge at the heel of the saddle. One real nice feature was that the rails could be easily removed for home-shop refinishing. The rails were attached to the cantleplate by a nut/threaded pin attachment at the center of the plate.

I have a version of this with an alloy cantleplate. Only one I've ever seen, including catalogs. I've found that anything is possible with Ideale, what with so many variations of their nose clip, et al.
