As I periodically say, and resisted the last time it was relevant on pedal removal, be very judicious heating aluminium parts. 7000 series aluminium (and I think that means parts that are "ergal") can lose temper when heated to 300 degrees F or more. This is a time and temperature relationship. It takes hours at 300 and minutes at 400 degrees. The same is true for 6000 series aluminum but the temperatures run a bit higher. Reducing the temper of your parts from T6 to T0 is not a good idea.
