Subject: [CR]Cinelli Stem names...?

Ladies and Gentlemen - I'm sitting here looking at 5 Cinelli Stems, all aluminum, and all different. Anyone wanna help the group with some model names and guesses on dates? All use 6 mm expander bolts, recessed.

1) Old logo, elliptical cross section, not increase in cross section as go from quill to handlebar, hex nut on back of handlebar clamp. I think this may be called a "1" or "1a"? Handlebar tightening bolt roughly horizontal

2) Exactly as above, but with recessed allen key (6 mm) on back to tighten handlebar.

3) Exactly like 2, above, except for new-style logo. Interestingly the new style logo reads right-side up from the front of the bike, while the old logo (in ellipse) reads rightside up from the rider's perspective.... From the CDO site, I assume that the logo change was about 1980, but don't know if they renamed the model (to justify a press release???)

4) What looks like the "1R" from the CDO site. New logo, flares laterally toward handlebar, and uses a really elegant clamping system involving a 6 mm bolt (vertical from bottom) that wedges a curved plate that engages the bar from behind.

5) The last one looks like a cheaper version of the 1R. Uses expander wedge (like Japanese stems) instead of cone, and has cheaper-looking 6 mm allen key going up into the stem at about a 45 degree angle. Has black circular label on the front like 1R, but purely decorative (on "1R" the black plastic thing is a plug covering the drill hole). Box I bought it in (plastic, purple cardboard) calls it an XA, but length isn't right for the box markings)

If ya'll can reach a consensus, maybe we can post the info on the CDO site to help others.

Thanks
