I started riding "seriously" in 1968 when Jeff Page and I rode our stingrays 8 miles to the San Jose airport. In 1971 I purchased an Italvega 10 speed which had an out of true frame and several other irreparable defects, but rode the heck out of it anyway.

In '74 I purchased an Alex Singer bicycle from Spence Wolf, and by then I was into the hobby of a lifetime. Every time I throw a leg over a bike I go back to the thrill of speed and freedom that I first experienced as a young boy, except it's better now, because I've got a lifetime of experience, lots of great cycling buddies (like Jeff Groman at Kingston Classic Cycle) and 2 really good knees, thanks to Dr. Gary Fanton at Sports Ortho in Woodside Ca.

The brotherhood of the wheel lives on in this list and I am eternally grateful.
