The structural effect, I agree, is negligible...BUT:

I DO recommend that homies drill each side separately so you lessen the risk of getting it off center. A slight error is noticeable here so measure 3 times, center punch carefully & drill once.

Brandon is correct however in that genuine track racers (rather than around town dilettantes) are not going to want that fork drilled ... so you will have a tough time selling that bike to a real trackie later. Better to get a racy road fork for this use and save that good track fork.
