Subject: [CR]German bikes?

A few years ago I owned a Rickert(sp?) track bike but it was too big and went to the auction block. I've been loking around the web and find that I hear very little about german bikes. The German bikes I've seen are made with the best care and the couple I've ridden are also great riders. There's Durkopp's around sometimes but I find very little on German bikes in general. Neither Dale's, Sheldon's sites have anything on German bikes. A Google search for German bikes comes up with lots of interesting recumbents and town bikes, but no real "classics." I know track racing is huge over there and was so before the war too. So the question is what happened? Who are some other makers I should look out for?
