I agree on your placement comments, Richie. On one hand it didn't make sense, especially sionce most bikes are photographed from the drive side (for shows and whatnot). On the other hand, though, it's kind of busy on the right side so maybe it was a logical place given teh breathing room there. I'm not sure who started the signature thing.

My 69 and'70 Masi is not signed but my '68 Pogliaghi is (left side). Who came first?? My '77 Pog is not signed. Actually I find the whole signature (autograph) thing a bit ostentatious. the details of these frames usually speak for themselves. Then came the whole pantographing thing and bikes turned into visual/graphic orgies.
