Subject: [CR]In praise of Joe Bell

My long awaited Fuji project/restoration has come to a glorious end. After five months of gathering NOS parts and cleaning/building existing parts, I went down to La Mesa last Tuesday to pick up my freshly painted red and white 1977 Fuji Newest frame from Joe Bell. It is magnificient and beyond my wildest hopes. I met with JB in November and we talked about the color and decals I wanted. He was very patient and understanding of my very specific requests and the result is just amazing. Rob brazed on the downtube shifter bosses and prepped the frame (straightening the right rear dropouts and checking final alignment). JB installed the headset and BB and then posed graciously for a photo outside his shop. This bicycle has a second life due to the careful craftmanship of JB and Rob. It was a pleasure to meet them both and I am proud that they have been such a major part of completing this dream bike of mine. I will post photos to the list when they come back. And I can't wait to show it off on the next vintage ride. (Feb. 4th, Rose Bowl) Thank you, gentlemen...
