I double checked Mitzi's bike just to make sure and there are letters. Also the SR# runs across the BB so all this adds to others people's opinions that it's a 70's model, maybe a 710. I've never been a big fan of Treks (nor production bikes in general though they're all I own) but I'd have to say that I believe they'll be collectable in the future because of their ride. I've ridden many Treks over the years only one of them my own and each and everyone had a nice balanced ride, not too snappy or flexy or rough. There is something in the fell that I just can't put my finger on. . . kinda like the "everything" bike.
