Contagion alert! After I found this list, I marveled at the long catalogs of classic bikes you each had, and wondered how you could find the time to ride them all! The interesting thing is I just wanted to rebuild my old bicycle to pedal around with my wife. A list member in Virginia advised me to keep my eyes open for a better frame than my old German-made Kent. So I found a '70s Bianchi (candy-apple red, not Celeste) locally for very cheap. It is apparently a Vespa model (I thought Vespa was a scooter, but I don't know my Bianchis) of lugged, straight, seamed steel (I peered down the seat tube). The lugs do not have cutouts and are not filed, but the side points on the head tube turn up and down in interesting curlicues. So I had two old bikes and I liked them both, but my wife still wanted me to go riding with her, so I picked up an '80s, off-shore RaleighUSA: chomoly, but lugged. Very nice geometry for cruising. Wife is satisfied about cycling (we went out for an ! hour yesterday - great fun!), bu t now there are four bikes in the workshop (plus an old Schwinn exercycle that I still use) and she is looking at me with an arched eyebrow. They are not in the league of those previously listed here, so please have patience with my entry-level rides, but, is this how it starts? Tom Donahue
