Hi,

I saw this on Menotomy Vintage Bicycles

One link from the Retro Raleigh web page is to Tom Forhan's Periodic Table of the Raleigh Super Course. http://www.pipeline.com/~tforhan/periodic.htm

I just tried this site but it no longer exists...

I am looking for some information on my bike, which I got second hand quite recently.

Although I acquired the bike recently, it's dear to me as it's a Carlton, made in my home town of Worksop. Well, it may not be...

The bike is two tone brown, with half-chromed front forks. It has silver decals (rather than a head badge). The head tube badge says "Carlton, Worksop, England", and has the World Champion rainbow bands across it. The seat tube has a silver decal of a man hunched over a bike.

The down tube label is also silver, marked Carlton. There is no model name on the bike that has survived....

The bike is 531 Reynolds butted tubing.

Can you give me any idea of a resource where I can attempt to date the bike and find what the original componentry was. Presumably it's a late model, as it uses Raleigh badged cranks. Very little appears to be original, as I bought it as a fixed wheel machine.

Any help in tracking down the origins of this bike would be gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance

Gareth
