OK, but then why do they make and sell two completely different products as Proofhide ? The red stuff is very different from the yellow, being much slicker and pliable at lower temperatures. I wonder if the red Proofhide is for black finished saddles and the yellow is for honey-brown finish saddles ?

I use nothing but Proofhide and sweat on my Brooks saddles. One B-17N has been in use since the 70's, and is still my favorite.
