Hey folks-

As another old Trek owner, I have to ask...does any one have any clue to the serial numbers on them? They do seem rather random, and when I emailed Trek with a ton of info on my frame, including serial number, they asked for a photo to help them figure out what year and model it is. This says to me that they don't even know what the deal is with their own serial numbers. Anybody have any useful info? Also, the late 78-81-ish 710...anyone know the geometry for a 24" frame? And how it might have originally been equipped? The one I'm currently buying "on time" (I'm too broke to buy it outright, the shop is understanding, and I just can't let this one get past me) has an odd mix of stuff on it that looks too late for the frame...like SunTour Sprint derailleurs and Aero Gran Compe brakes. What might it have had originally? Not that I'm planning on an "authentic" restoration...just curious.

Thanks,

Tim
