Others have mentioned earlier dates, so I thought I'd add that I got mine in '77 at Bud's Bike Shop in Claremont CA USA, and they seemed to be selling well, i.e. not old stock.

I didn't get a kit with a pouch, but Bud's stocked all the spare parts separately. I bought a stack of steel cogs, two bodies and some extra pawls.
