re: British Hub Company Airlites and Solites both appeared before World War 2. The latter being made entirely of steel. Pre-War Airlites (small flange) were steel barrels and alloy flanges. The large flange hubs had a steel barrel, small alloy flanges but with large steel flanges rivited onto the alloy. All were available as tandem hubs. Racelites, on the other hand, weren't available until after the war (unsure of exact date) and were made entirely of alloy. Post-War Airlites had a steel barrel and alloy flanges and, again, were available as tandem hubs. Pete
