No you're not, I remember too! In fact, the phenomenon happened to me with my '81 Bianchi Nuovo Racing's Ofmega hubs. No replacement cones available, and when I purchased the generic Italian threaded cones, guess what? Right, the cones were too short, making it impossible to use a cone wrench without destroying the domed dust caps. Temporary solution, install an extra set of Campy NR, SF, sew-up wheels until I can find replacement parts.
