Subject: [CR]Date a Raleigh Competition?

Can anyone remember if the older Raleigh Competition frames ('72-'74) have the gold striping along the lugs?

I've located a Raleigh Competion that the owner thinks is a 1970 or so, but says it has gold lug striping, which makes me think it's a later model, since my '78 Pro has the same gold striping. Can tell year by frame color since they are all black.

I've already checked the Retro Raleigh site and it doesn't help.

Doland,

I can only give you my perspective of the stewardship I have for a Raleigh Competition by Carlton from 1972. CR has made me aware that the Carlton Competition is more like the Raleigh Gran Sport BUT it has gold accenting at the lugs. I'm presuming that's what you mean by 'gold striping along the lugs'.

Good luck
