Just thought I'd say hello...I've been monitoring the list for a couple of weeks now. I'm a small collector of British and Canadian bikes, roadsters and lightwieghts. I'm starting to gravitate to the lightweights although my collection of these is somewhat limited...a 1950's CCM Road Racer (club bike, flip flop, fenders etc) and a '53 Hercules Falcon road bike with 3 speed Herc. cog/drivetrain. I'm about to purchase two more CCM Road Racer frames and build them up as well. Currently I ride a couple of modern frames with Campy equipment both new and vintage. That will likely change.

A question...has anyone ever heard of a Winthrop? Looks like early 70's mid-lower end, Valentino, Nervex, Italian threads, steel crank, Ballila brakes and crappy foil decals.

Just thought I would pipe up when I read Doug Brooks compliments of Mike Barry Sr. at Bicycle Specialties in Toronto. I've been dealing with Mike as a customer for a number of years now and I'm very respectful of everything he does. If you're ever in Toronto you should visit his shop and take a look at his bikes. The Mariposa bikes are classic, modern and superbely done.
