Subject: [CR]CCM flyer anyone?

I'm about to purchase two more CCM Road Racer frames and build them up as well.

Just thought I would pipe up when I read Doug Brooks compliments of Mike Barry Sr. at Bicycle Specialties in Toronto. I've been dealing with Mike as a customer for a number of years now and I'm very respectful of everything he does. If you're ever in Toronto you should visit his shop and take a look at his bikes. The Mariposa bikes are classic, modern and superbely done.

Hello Warren I am also a Bicycle Specialties customer and live in Leaside. Never heard of a Winthrop but perked up when you mentioned CCM. About 30 yrs ago I cycled with somebody called Charlie (can't remember his last name). He had a CCM Flyer, full Campy N.R., Nervex pro lugs, Reynolds 531 etc. Very similar design to the Schwin Paramount. Apparently CCM had the one frame builder who was well known for his craft. Strangely, he never rode a bike in his life and was petrified at the thought! Coblers children do go barefoot! Mike Barry might remember this character as he who was very bombastic (opposite to Mike). I would imagine he may have passed on as he was in his 50's when I cycled with him. I wonder what happened to the Flyer. It was Red and Blue if I remember. Maybe we will run into one another in B.S. and will no doubt see your postings. I have two gracefully ageing Marinonis (12 and 22 yrs of age) Regards, Robert (Bob) Murray
