Charles, Was the four hole derailleur a Super Record, with black anodized arms or was it Nuovo (all silver)? I've been looking for a 4-hole Nuovo myself, without much success. (Anybody???) I think the SR front came out well after Campy went to three holes, and that a four-hole black-anodized front was never made, but correct me if I'm wrong. Also, do you happen to recall if your derailleur also had the narrow (non-pointed) band clamp? Many four-holers that I've seen have had the narrow band, but I've seen four-holers with the newer, pointed band and three-holers with the straight band. I suspect that only one of these two hybrids would be a factory item. The other is probably only seen when someone cobbles together a derailleur out of parts. Does anyone know if it was the clamp or the number of holes that was changed first? Chuck Schmidt's timeline mentions both, but doesn't say if one came before the other. If, for example, the clamp was changed first, the pointed-clamp four-holers are the real deal while the straight clamp three holers are from someone's spare parts. Then again, maybe Campy was just using whatever they could pick up off the factory floor for some time. Anybody??? Anybody????
