In a message dated 3/18/01 11:33:58 AM Eastern Standard Time, Ken responded to Carlo: << Did your bid meet the reserve? I doubt it. Any time that there is an unmet
reserve you are also bidding against the current owner (the reserve is his proxy
bid.) That's why I never bid when there is an unmet reserve. >> In January, I bid against another bidder AND an unspecified reserve. After the other bidder stopped, I placed a dozen more bids, which were all recorded by time in the bid history, but the last bid I made to out-bid the other bidder was the last amount recorded; none of the other bids (against myself) were recorded as a higher value, even though each one went up by first one dollar and then several dollars. The reserve had no impact on my subsequent bids. I wrote a letter to the seller asking him what the reserve was, but never heard back from him.
