i currently ride a "ciöcc mockba '80" which i bought used in '88. in '98 i had it "restored" by assenmacher here in michigan. the restoration was to get it in presentable condition, not to return it to original condition. the frame was bead-blasted, painted, new decals applied - except for the "mockba '80" on the top-tube, and clear-coated. i also committed the sin of replacing the original steel fork with a straight-bladed carbon fork. but the bike is ridden (it's my primary bike for racing/training) and i imagine the original builders would be happy about that.
i'm interested in learning more about the make and model. what i've found thus far:
"ciöcc" was founded by "giovanni pellizzoli" and was made famous by claudio corti who rode one to the '77 world title in san cristobal. this one has an all-SL tubeset and was originally from '84, apparently built to commemmorate the '80 olympics held in moscow (perhaps capitizing on the hoopla associated with the '84 olympics in los angeles?). the imprint on the brake bridge suggests it was imported by ten speed drive imports (it's their logo). it's 58cm (center-center) with a longish top-tube (~58.5cm) - that seems quite a bit longer than most off-the-peg italian frames of the era. angles look "normal" for this size: seat ~73deg, head ~74deg. poking around inside the frame, i can see it was pinned during construction. it was originally a really nice candy-apple red and lacked clear-coat. there's no chrome anywhere, but i saw a similar ciöcc a few years back with a chrome fork and stays.
any info about this frame or make would be appreciated.
