Subject: [CR]On Cyclo derailleur

I am very glad to have Mr. Husejima as a list member, who is an "orthodox" Japanese collector or enthusiast of vintage bicycles . I think I am a heretic in Japan, who don't know much about French type touring bicycles.
I have a question about Herse type bikes of Toei or Hirose. I found quite a few are equipped with French Cyclo randonneur rear derailleurs whose brackets are brazed on the chain stays. At first I thought they only imitated old Herse or Singer .But to have found many examples, now I am thinking that there may be some practical merit to use that derailleur ; Is it efficient? , robust? Sorry I don't have the book "Dancing Chain" yet.
