This clears things up for me...I'm in Toronto and almost all the roadsters I encounter are the 28 1 1/2 Canadian size. And they do take the 622 mm bead. Makes tire selection easier although not always period.

The English 28x11/2" tires are completely different to the 700C tires that were recommended. The bead seat diameter is 635mm whereas the 700C is 622mm. There is much confusion in Canada as there were many English bikes with the 635s sold here and there were many Canadian built bikes which had 622s which were also marked 28x11/2". The latter are known as Canadian 28s. We have both sizes in stock in both black and white. The white ones really dress up those vintage bikes.
