But, if you use a single box(s) making use of foam, wood blocks at the bottom and small cardboard boxes to act as crumple zones are great suggestions from all.

As far as UPS I agree with Dale in that they do hold you feet to the fire and that if a shipment is damaged it is the Shipper who is responsible for following up and mak- ing it right so as Sid said, "You better have a good relationship with whomever"...
