I've run into that problem a couple of times, where modern headsets are 4-5 mm taller than an old Campy Record for which the fork was trimmed. Three fixes that have worked for me: the Tange Levin is a pretty close copy of a Campy Steel record, and stacks about 33mm. If you don't mind modern, the Ritchey Logic headsets also run about 33 mm, but have more obtrusive graphics. Finally, if even these won't work, there is a Tange MA 60 at only 31.2 mm for about 10 bucks. Heavy, but if it makes the bike work - - -. If that's still too tall, start saving up for a new fork. Harris Cyclery catalogs all of these items, or your LBS can perhaps order them.

Hi Guys

This Freddie Grubb is going to be the end of me.

Vic Polanski and I have just spent the best part of two hours trying to cobble together a suitable headset for the Grubb to no avail after finding that a Stronglight A9 doesn't fit. The steerer column is VERY short.

So two more questions:

Does anyone have a Record Pista headset or other suitable headset they can sell me?

Can anyone recommend a headset currently on the market that might be suitable.

Thanks

Stewart
