Subject: [CR]Milling Steerer Tube on Masi?

Hello CR'ers:

I've been building up a mid 80's Masi Prestige and I was rolling along until I got to the the handlebar stem. The steerer tube will not accept a standard (22.2mm??) Cinelli 1R.

The steerer tube has not been faced or milled. Will not having this done cause the tube to be under-sized so it doesn't take a standard stem? There's no way Alberto stuck a French metric steerer on this bike. The steerer threads on a italian SR top headset cup OK.

Any builder or shop recommendation in the NYC-Tristate area where I can take this to be done? Most LBS's haven't even seen threaded steerers in some time, much less have the knowledge or the Campy press and cutter to do the job.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Bill
