A recently aquired Trek 500 has this tubing. The sticker reads:

"Guaranteed Built with Reynolds 501 Chromalloy-M butted frame tubes"

on the nice green/black/gold sticker affixed just above the bottom bracket on the seat tube. This bike has the second revision headbadge, so it was built 1984 - 1987. I guess that means it is just barely "non-Classique", though it is lugged steel.
