I guess it depends what you mean by survive. Personally, I'm not sure having the Legnano name slapped on cheap city bikes by the European conglomerate that now owns Bianchi and therefore the Legnano name, constitues survival for Legnano. This is even worse than putting the Schwinn Paramount name on those mid-priced Taiwan bikes in the early 90's. At least those were reasonable quality road bikes, though not worthy of the Paramount name. This is more like someone putting the Cinelli name on a K-Mart mountain bike. Sometimes it's better to see a marque die with a little dignity.

No it's not depressing at all, at least they've survived where others have failed. Also I've seen Legnano "city" bikes as far back as the early-60s. Those fenders date from this time and were quite popular on bikes not designed for full touring. For anyone that thinks it's bad that companys have moved from the "tried-and-true", I must ask would you rather they went belly up? enjoy, Brandon Ives
