Thanks to Sheldon for posting the info and just being there...

My shop has put many new Campagnolo track hubs on wheels destined for road use by couriers and other purists, and we've seen more and more cracks appearing on the flanges. So far we have been successful returning them to distributor QBP for replacement, after unbuilding and then rebuilding wheels.

As much as I love the spirit of Campagnolo products, their current production Record track hubs seem too delicate for road use and I can respect Campagnolo's new limited warranty. The amount of metal between spokes holes and cutouts on the Sheriff's Star is just not enough for stress of bumpy roads and occasional knocks of bike use. Instead, we've begun recommending low or solid flange NJS-approved hubs by Phil, Suzue and Shimano. I've seen fewer cracks with old NR Campagnolo hubs. I don't recall seeing any Record hub flange cracks on wheels used at the tracks, except in the case of crashing.

I hope this issue causes Campagnolo to produce a fixed-gear hub suitable for road use.
