Spring of 1976 bought my PX-10 brand new for I think $275.00 instead of the used Legnano for $350.00, if I remember correctly. No waiting. Spring of 1987 bought very slightly used DeRosa that was on consignment at the LBS for $750.00. No waiting. Spring (O.K., it was February), 2001 purchased very slightly used Richard Sachs from Richard. Had to wait 2 days for that one. Longest 2 days of my life. All 3 classics? I think so. Richard ("I can't help it if I'm lucky.."), Rose (Toledo, Ohio)

Anyone els care toshare the experience of buying a classic bicycle when it was new? Phil has shared his Colnago purchase from Velo, here's mine about my Bianchi.

I was attending the University of Florida in 1981 and there was a shop called Pedalers on University Ave. Someone had ordered a Bianchi Super Leggera with the intention of taking it racing. The bike took awhile to arrive and when it finally did, the guy who ordered it decided to buy a Ciocc instead so the Bianchi went up on the wall where I looked at it's Celeste beauty about every day. Finally, using the US government Pell Grant for it true intended purpose, I went in and asked them if they would sell me just the frameset as I didn't really care for all of the pantographed components. (I also couldn't afford the 1300.00 complete bike price). They checked with the owner and he agreed to sell me just the frameset for 625.00. I paid for it over several weeks and kept the frame proudly displayed in my dorm room. It would be another 5 years before I could afford to build it up to its present SR reduced gruppo state. The bike has less than 500 miles on it and is still about the most beautiful machine I've ever seen.
