The twin plate fork crown was used on initial production in California. If Brian's around maybe he can fill us in with some dates.

I was superceded by the sand cast "box" crown that has a flat top perpendicular to the steerer.

I once built a fork for myself with that fork crown. I understand why it was not used for long!
