If I told you my friend is riding a 1973 Peugeot PX10 with the original Simplex Prestige derailleur and, despite the cage being a bit out of alignment, still shifts well, you probably wouln't believe me. It's true though. And it is his only ride and is ridden about 1500 miles per year. You do the math.
