Subject: [CR]Simplex vs. Campy Shifting - One last time

I know this post kind of died last week, but just to set my own mind at ease I took out the Peugeot on a 400km Brevet on Saturday.

As mentioned before, most of this season and last has been spent riding an Olmo with Gran Sport triple group on it. The Peugeot has mostly been relegated to "display" since completing Paris-Brest-Paris on it in '99. I was reluctant to take off the PBP number plate from the bike - but too self-consious to ride the bike locally with it on!

What a revelation! The Peugeot shifts SO MUCH nicer than the Olmo. In fact all the controls - brake lever effort and feel, for example - far outshine the Campy components on the Olmo.

The only downfall with the Peugeot, which should be easily remedied, was the rear derailleur shifting by itself off the largest cog when I stood to climb some of the hills along the route.

Hope know one on the list minds this cycling related post!
