Subject: [CR]Last Call / 5 Piers-Newport Wedge Ride/August 26th/Southern California

Greetings One and All! The 5 Piers ride on Tullio's birthday is now just 5 days away on Sunday, August 26th. This ride covers approximately 39 easy miles from/near the Belmont (Shore) Pier area to the Seal Beach, Huntington Beach and then Newport Beach Pier and a last hop to the Balboa Pier and the Wedge. We will stop for coffee, snacks ect. at/around the Newport Pier and head back to my humble abode for lunch, bicycle 'show and tell' then 'top that tall tale'. Promises to be fun for all! I'll provide refreshments before and Lunch after the ride...We will meet at 9:30 AM and rollout at 10 AM. Ride anything appropriate but English or Italian will fit nicely for the day. I'll likely ride a Fixed Harry Quinn tho I may call on a '79 Colnago Mexico in honor of Tullio's 100th birthday. The start location is close to the intersection of the 405, 605 and 22 Fwy's just north of the Los Angeles/ Orange County line in Sunny Southern Calif. There is a "Sedate" ride and "spirited" ride...Please contact Paulie Davis paulieflt@yahoo.com for details on the slower version. The spirited version differs in the return trip by taking PCH instead of the bikepath home and generally much fewer stops overall.. The ride is flat mostly along the beach bikepath but we will divert as needed in the "brain dead tourist" zones. It's best to show up in a timely manner as beach parking slots go quick as the morning progresses... address & directions will be provided to those interested in participating.

****Disclaimer****The ride itself is totally optional and I make no guarantee, warrantee or prediction of the outcome...wear a helmet & follow all traffic laws and much fun will be had by all.

P.S. Sturmey-Archer geared bicycles are warmly welcomed and quite suitable for the Stately or Spirited versions of the ride.
